Professional Development Opportunity

The World Affairs Council of the Mid-Hudson Valley (WAC-MHV) will offer a program onSaturday, March 31, 2012 from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm at Marist College’s Hancock Center (Building 15 in map below), Rm. 2023 to inform local teachers about Turkish history and culture.

This workshop is supported by the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) and the Turkish Cultural Foundation (TCF) and will feature talks by academic specialists, a film, Turkish food, and the reflections of teachers who have traveled toTurkey with the TCF Turkey Study Tour program.

Teachers of all disciplines and grade levels are welcome at the Spotlight on Turkey Workshop. Space is limited however. Interested teachers should contact workshop organizer, Sevgin Oktay, oktay@hvworldaffairscouncil.org  or Rita Alterman, metermaidalt@optonline.net to reserve a spot and/or to inquire about how to apply for the 2012 Turkey study tour, or to apply to participate in the Turkey Study Tour, click  Spotlight… and download the application.  Global studies teachers and others who teach courses referencing Anatolia are encouraged to attend.

Cost: Free for the first 15 teachers to respond.  Otherwise, there is a $25 fee to cover the cost of food and materials.
